Newsletter #19

Dear Parents, pupils, staff and governors,

Sponsored Day of Coding

Today, Dottie, Dylan and Thomas have been running the sponsored coding day that they have been organising for the past few weeks. I am really proud of the effort that these three have put into planning the day; they are super role models! All the children spent time in the IT suite today learning about coding (at an age-appropriate level!) and it’s apparent that there is significant enthusiasm for this subject across the school. If you have managed to get some sponsors then a) thank you very much and b) could you please bring any money you have been pledged by next Friday 8th July.

We are hoping to invest in some of these: Crumble Circuit Boards

Worship theme

The netball team made a gallant effort yesterday at the Hampshire Games. This was the first time a team from Appleshaw had made it through to the Hampshire Finals and despite not winning a game (but only narrowly!) I know the team has benefited greatly from the experience and we are certainly proud to be the best team in the Andover area this year! Thank you to Mrs Crompton and Mrs Granger for all their hard work with the team!

End of term concert

The end of term concert (now dubbed ‘Music Festival’ – thanks PTA, no pressure!) will take place on Monday 18th July. Please see the attached flyer.

Sports Day

A reminder that the new date is Monday 11th July; parents are welcome on to the school site from 1.15pm. Hopefully the weather will be kinder to us this time!

Parents’ Evenings

I sent a text message earlier today with a link to make appointments for parents’ evenings on July 11th and 12th. The purpose of these meetings will be to discuss and clarify the contents of your end of year written reports and also to discuss targets for next term. We are grappling with a wealth of new terminology regarding end of Key Stage statutory assessments this year and I do hope that we have made the current attainment and progress that your child has made as clear as possible.

PTA

The hard-working PTA committee and all their friends have their final event of this year (not including the Music Concert!) will be the disco on Friday 15th July. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to the PTA this year, but especially the committee led by Amy Rawlinson, Melissa Seymour and Catherine Eldred.

Clubs

Next week will be the last week for ALL clubs, including Judo and Multi-sports.

Kind regards,

Ian Hickman
