Setting Goals

We have started our whole school wellbeing work this term by thinking about goals. We talked about how positive it is to have things to look forward to and some children shared some exciting upcoming events in their lives, which even included a trip to Australia! We also looked at what Action for Happiness were saying about goals – they say:

‘Feeling good about the future is important for our happiness. We all need goals to motivate us and these need to be challenging enough to excite us, but also achievable. If we try to attempt the impossible this brings unnecessary stress.’

First I asked the children to set a goal for the coming week. Hope, Daisy and Alfie shared the goals they had set and each in turn helped to demonstrate exactly what an achievable goal looked like.

More recently I asked the children to set a goal for this term, which they wrote down (some with a little help) and will keep for the term. When the goal has been achieved they can display it in school and then perhaps set another one!
